Piano Teacher Arrested for Student Sex Abuse

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
A community was shocked to learn about sexual abuse that allegedly occurred between a piano teacher and her young student last week in Maine.

Police reports show that the 23-year-old piano teacher had sexually abused the victim when he was 14 or 15 years old. Although the abuse happened last year, between January 1st and February 28th, it has taken over a year for the prosecution to build a solid case against the suspect. During that time, the prosecution worked up a plea deal to offer to the woman. By agreeing to plead guilty to a charge of sexual abuse of a minor, the prosecution would drop the felony charge of gross sexual assault. As a result, the woman received 90 days behind bars for pleading guilty to the teacher sex abuse charge.

In addition to teaching piano, the woman was also a substitute teacher at a local high school. While no other victims have come forward, the police conducted investigations to see if other incidents of abuse happened at the school as well.
