Foster Care Abuse Victim Sues Department of Social and Health Services

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Not all cases that are brought before the court are recent, but can span back several years, if not decades. Such is the case of a young woman who is now claiming that she was the victim of foster care abuse when she was a child.

The woman, now 18-years-old, filed suit not against the foster parents, but against a state's Department of Social and Health Services. She states that the department failed to identify the abuse by not running a proper background check on the couple that took her in. The lawsuit goes on to state that the abuse could have been prevented if the department had taken the correct steps while licensing the couple to take in foster children.

According to the lawsuit, the abuse began by the foster father when the young woman was just six years old.
