Elder Abuse Ongoing Between Family Members

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Elder abuse is normally found in nursing homes; in Huron County, a sad case of elder abuse was found to be happening between family members.

Investigators from the Huron County Sheriff's Office have accused Deana L. Teves of assaulting her husband over the past month. Her son, Steven M. Lewis II, has also been charged with falsely cashing his step-father's checks by forging his signature on them. Both were arrested this week on warrants issued by Huron County Prosecutor Timothy J. Rutkowski.

In addition to the above charges, the victim had also reported three long guns to be missing. Two of those have since been recovered, according to Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson.

If found guilty, Teves could face up to 93 days in jail for the count of domestic violence against her; her son could receive 15 years for uttering and publishing. Both suspects were soon released on $5,000 personal recognizance bonds, and have been directed not to contact the victim at all.
