Elder Abuse Caught on Tape

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Video evidence captured by a hidden camera showed serious elder abuse in an assisted living facility in Philadelphia.

Already suspicious of the staff at the center, the family installed a camera in a clock and placed it in her room. What they found was several staff members assaulting and mocking a half-naked dementia patient, who then tried to leave the room. She had already asked her family several times, "Why do they keep picking on me?" prompting the hidden camera to be installed.

As a result Ayesha Muhammad, 19, Tyrina Griffin, 21, and Samirah Traynham, 22, have each been charged with neglect of a care-dependent person, aggravated assault and other related charges. Among the abuses witnessed in the video are Traynham hitting the woman in the head, Griffin doing a dance like a stripper and Muhammed blocking the patient from leaving the room. However, the defendants have all claimed not to have inflicted any physical harm on the woman.

Two of the women are free on bail but are not returning messages.
