A priest who has been serving in San Francisco for years has been accused of clergy abuse.
Although the specifics are not available to the public just yet, it is believed that Rev. Daniel Keohane sexually abused a 17-year-old girl back in 1978 or 1979 when he was serving at the Church of the Epiphany. This was the first church in which Keohane worked after being ordained.
Church workers went back into the files to corroborate the claim and uncover the age of the women now. However Maurice Healy, a spokesman for the church, was unable to say what prompted the closer review, but that the church is actively investigating it. And even though Keohane, now 58, has denied the charges, the archdiocese labeled the charge as "credible," meaning that they will continue their investigation.
