Foster Parent Arrested for Assaulting 5 Year Old

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
This week, several news sources have reported that a 37-year-old man was charged with two counts of first-degree rape. The man was placed under arrest by police after he allegedly assaulted his five-year-old foster child.

Reports indicate that the child was 4 years old when his foster parent, Jason Boothby, began molesting him.  This information was made public after documents from King County Superior Court were reviewed.   The documents also indicate that the foster father had no prior criminal history and is being held in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

According to prosecutors, Boothby, "abused his position of trust as a foster parent and offended against this very young, vulnerable child."  The defendant and his wife became foster parents back in 2008.

In December 2010, the five-year-old boy disclosed the alleged abuse to authorities.  Child Protective Services was notified and police intervened.

Since they were licensed, Boothby and his wife have provided a home to 11 children.  Six children remained in their care when the abuse was discovered.
