Priest To Be Extradited To Maryland For Sex Abuse Charges

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
This week the Associated Press reported that officials in Montana as well as Episcopal Church say that a former priest is facing child sex abuse charges.  The retired priest is now waiting for extradition to Maryland.

On Wednesday, The Episcopal Diocese of Maryland released a statement that said Reverend Donald Belcher has been indicted by a grand jury on child sex abuse charges.  Belcher currently resides in Yaak, Montana.

On December 29th, Belcher appeared in court on an extradition warrant for a sexual assault charge.

The 82 year old was the vicar of the Church of the Holy Cross in Street from 2001 to 2007.
At this time, the Diocese is taking active measures to prohibit Belcher from performing any priestly duties and has started its own investigation.
