In the city of Chicago, Illinois, a former teacher with the Hope Academy has pleaded guilty to charges of student sex abuse. As a result of her guilty plea, 24 year old Kathryn Vail-Wesley was sentenced with two years of sex offender probation.
On Wednesday, the teacher admitted that she had sexually molested a high school student. She pled guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a 17 year old male student from the school where she taught.
It has been reported that Vail-Wesley and the student engaged in sexual relations in the fall of 2008. The activity took place in the school and also in her apartment.
In 2009, police were alerted when the victim's mother revealed that officials at the school threatened to expel her son if he did not transfer. Now, the teacher must register as a sex offender and undergo monitoring.
