Female Teacher Arrested for Aggravated Sex Abuse Against Student

In Plainfield, members of the School Board officially accepted the resignation of a teacher on Tuesday.  The teacher, 27 year old Ashley Blumenstine, was accused of having sexual relations with a 16 year old male student.

Blumenstine was formally charged with aggravated sexual abuse by local police after she was found by officers inside of her vehicle with the young man outside of a Kohl's store.  Blumenstine was a tenured teacher at Plainfield North High School and she submitted her resignation following the incident.

In addition to accepting her resignation, the Superintendent is being asked to revoke Blumenstine's teaching certificate.

If Blumenstine is found guilty or pleads guilty to charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, her teacher's license will automatically be suspended.  In 2010, the state board had to revoke 20 licenses that belonged to teachers who violated school code.
