In the city of Chicago, new sources have said that a former Catholic priest has been formally charged with trying to hire someone to murder a teenager in Texas who accused him of sexual abuse nearly 2 years ago.

52-year-old John Fiala was placed under arrest on Thursday after he negotiated a $5,000 hit with an undercover law enforcement agent said the Texas Department of Public Safety.  An investigation was launched against the former priest after a neighbor tipped off authorities in a nearby county.

Edwards County Sheriff Don Letsinger said, "I received a call from an unnamed informant who was having problems with the way Fiala was acting."

After the priest made the murder arrangements with an undercover detective, he was placed under arrest by local law enforcement.  He is currently being held in jail on one count of solicitation to commit murder and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and his bail has been set at $700,000.

In 2008, an indictment was issued against Fiala on four counts of sexually assaulting the victim who was then 16 years of age.  The victim alleged that he was raped at gunpoint and filed a lawsuit against several branches of the Catholic church as he believed the abuse was covered up.
