Tennessee Priest Pleads Not Guilty to Sex Abuse Charges

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

The Associated Press is reporting that a former Catholic priest by the name of William Casey pled not guilty last week to allegations that he raped an altar boy in Blountville, Tennessee.

Casey, who is 67 years old, entered pleas to two counts of aggravated rape and one count of criminal sexual conduct.  The AP says that Casey's trial has been set for April 11, 2010.
Following the hearing, the victim, William Tucker, spoke outside of the courthouse.  He said, "To say that it happened more than 50 times is not an exaggeration."  He also added, "And we're not talking about minor stuff, we're talking about every imaginable type of sexual abuse."  Tucker is now 44 years old and lives in the state of Indiana.

He also told new sources that he and his family have received letters from supporters of Casey.  He said the letters did not contain death threats, but he had to turn one of them over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Tucker reports that he was molest by Casey for over five years since the age of 10.  He said most of the sexual abuse took place in a cabin in rural Greene County.

News sources say that there have been sex abuse allegations made against Casey in three separate states and that there are other charges pending against him.
