In Washingtonville, it has been reported that a principal was placed under arrest on Monday after it was alleged that he had sexual contact with a 16-year-old male student.

Police started to investigate after the teen and his mother reported the situation to police on Saturday said Deputy Chief Rick Hovey.  According to authorities, Michael Rossi, the principal of Washingtonville High School, began to communicate with the teenager through text messaging at the beginning of October.  The sex acts allegedly took place inside a vehicle said officers in a statement.

Since the allegations, 51-year-old Rossi has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching, aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.  All of the crimes are categorized as misdemeanors.

After his arrest, Rossi was released on $2,500 bail.  He is expected to appear in court on October 28th.
