Priest Cleared of Sex Abuse Allegations in Boston

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
This week, the Boston archdiocese told media sources that a priest who was formally accused of sexually abusing a minor in the 1970s has finally been cleared of any wrongdoings.  The priest has since returned to the ministry.

Back in April, Rev. Charles J. Murphy had stepped down from his position at St. Francis Xavier Parish after sex abuse allegations were made so the archdiocese could investigate charges.

On Wednesday, the archdiocese said that it found charges against the priests were unsubstantiated. The case was closely investigated by the Archdiocesan Review Board which is comprised of an advisory committee which includes parents, a judge and clergy sex abuse victims.

The attorney that represented the victim said that his Rev. Murphy was interviewed by investigators, but never interviewed by the board.  He told reporters that he was very disappointed by the archdiocese's decision.
