Two More Men Join Lawsuit Against Minneapolis Priest

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
The Associated Press is reporting that in St. Paul, two more men have come forward and accused a priest of sexually abusing them while they were boys.  The priest that they accused of clergy abuse died at the age of 50 from cancer in 1985.

On Tuesday, the men joined a lawsuit that was filed against the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis back in March.  According to the men, Reverend Thomas Stitts molested them while they members of the Guardian Angeles Catholic Church parish.  They say they were also molested at St. Leo's congregation, which is located in St. Paul.

The men say that they were sexually abused during the 1960s.  In the lawsuit, the Plaintiffs state that the archdiocese had known or should have known about the allegations of abuse that were made against Stitts before assigning him to both parishes.

When asked about the lawsuit, Archdiocese spokesman Dennis McGrath said that the archdiocese rejects the allegations of fraud and misrepresentation.
