In Lexington, Kentucky, a former priest was recently sentenced to time in prison for sexually abusing victims throughout the 1980s.
Last week Friday, Reverend Joseph Muench was sentenced in Frankfort. He was sentenced to one year of jail time for the charges of unlawful imprisonment and criminal intent to commit sexual abuse.
In March, Muench entered an Alford plea. He was supposed to be charged with two counts of first degree sexual assault, but the charges were reduced due to his plea.
Prior to being charged, three men made allegations against Muench. This led to an internal investigation being launched by the Diocese of Lexington. In 2009, Muench was suspended from his duties at Mary Queen of Holy Rosmary.
Police say that the clergy abuse occurred while Muench served as a pastor at Good Shepherd between 1984 and 1986.
