The Franciscan Order of Catholic Priests is being sued by an O'Fallon, Missouri woman who claims that the order has not paid out enough money to her son, who was fathered by Father Henry Willenborg when they both lived in Quincy Illinois, reports ksdk.com. She claims that she attended a religious retreat run by the Catholic priest, and she was seeking solace as her marriage was ending. The claim is that Father Willenborg helped her and then began a sexual relationshiop with her. This took place during the early 1980's and is claimed to have lasted for five years. They lived as man and wife, claims the Missouri woman, and she says that the Franciscan Order either didn't know or chose not to take action while the relationship was going on.
The young son was born in 1987 and the two continued on as a family. After 8 months, a woman knocked on her door and told her she was having an affair with the priest. Willenborg was subsequently sent to a sexual addiction clinic. The Franciscans paid child support for the boy and set up a trust fund for him, which was ordered by the court. The Franciscan order claims that they have paid out tens of thousands of dollars over the years. The woman wants his cancer treatments paid for as well as his funeral, as he will soon die from cancer.
Father Willenborg was transferred to Ashland, Wisconsin where he has now been taken off the job for another sexual encounter - this time with a minor.
