Vermont Victims of Priest Abuse Calls for Bishop's Testimony

| No TrackBacks

The largest religious denomination in Vermont, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington is continuing with more legal actions in a seven-year-long fight involving almost 40 negligence lawsuits, reports the Rutland Herald.  There have already been verdicts resulting in more than $12 million dollars.  There is a legal battle involving the request for the testimony of Bishop Salvatore Matano.

One of the cases involves a man who as a young altar boy, is alleged to have been molested by a Catholic Priest, Reverend Edward Paquette, who served at Christ the King Church in the late 1970s.  The victim claims that Paquette repeatedly reached into his pants and fondled him about two dozen times.  He claims to have suffered many years of alcoholism and drug use as a result of the emotional damage done to him.  It is also claimed that Paquette had molested boys in both Indiana and Massachusetts and that the abuse accusations were known by the Diocese prior to his being sent to the ministry in Vermont.

These cases are far too common, and justice must be served.  If you or a loved one has suffered from clergy abuse, it is crucial that you get legal assistance from the legal team of clergy abuse attorneys at the Zalkin Law Firm.  Confidentiality will be maintained as a priority in your case.
