A lawsuit against the Church of South Colby has been settled for $547,000 in cash and assets, reports the Kitsap Sun. Former South Colby Church pastor Robbin L. Harper was convicted and sentenced in 2008 to 26 ½ years in prison after he pled guilty to eight counts of child molestation, assault and child rape. Harper had been the leader of the church which was believed to have been founded in about 1980.
Police report that at least 10 female victims eventually came forward and claimed that Harper had either raped them at the church or had inappropriately touched them. Harper and his ex-wife, Christine, were both named in the lawsuit against the church, as apparently no steps were ever taken to protect the children from this criminal activity.
