Former Catholic Priest Charged with Sexual Assualt in Waukesha Court

| No TrackBacks

A former Catholic priest, James R. Blume, has been charged with first degree sexual assault of a child in an Elm Grove motel in 1978 reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal.  The alleged victim was a 12-year-old at the time, and claims that there were several other assaults that took place in different locations and states.  Blume would take the boy on trips and they would stay in motels in which the priest would then sexually abuse him, is the claim from the now 37-year-old victim.  The ex-priest was a member of the Christian Brother religious order and now lives in Florida.

The accused worked as a Catholic brother at the St. Charles Boys' Home in Wauwatosa before leaving in 1978 and becoming a priest.  It is also reported that Blume taught at St. Luke's Parish in Brookfield during the 1970's, teaching religious education classes. In 1990, two civil suits were filed against him in Indiana and he was officially removed from the priesthood only last year.
