A lawsuit has been filed against former pastor Sandy Martin Cook and the Shrewsbury Church of God, reports The West Virginia Record. Four men who claim that their families were members of the Shrewsbury Church of God in Belle are suing the Tennessee-based Church and the ex-pastor for damages in a sexual abuse claim.
They claim that the ex-pastor, Sandy Martin Cook, sexually abused them when they were between the ages of 12 and 16. Cook was already convicted of sexually related offense in February 2009. The crimes were reported to authorities in 2007. The victims are claiming compensatory and punitive damages. The case is before the Kanawha circuit court.
