Tucson Baptist Former Youth Minister Convicted of Abuse

| No TrackBacks

A former youth minister of the East Tucson Baptist Church was convicted of child molestation charges on Wednesday reports the Arizona Daily Star.  The victim was a 13-year-old girl who was sexually molested over the period of a year.   The ex-minister, Christopher Scott Decaire will be sentenced on September 18th, and could spend more than 50 years in prison for the crimes.  He was convicted on six molestation and misconduct charges.  The victim, who is now 15 years old, testified that Decaire molested her and forced her to perform sexual acts between January 2007 and January 2008.  The crimes occurred every Wednesday when the youth group met.  The girl testified that Decaire would tell her that he would probably commit suicide if she ever told anyone.

When the girl told her sister about the molestation, her sister told her mother who then contacted law enforcement, and the pastor was arrested.
