Maryland Conference Picketed by Accusers of Nun Abuse

| No TrackBacks

A small group picketed a meeting of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious in Silver Spring reports wjla.com.  The protesting group alleges that they were sexually abused by Catholic nuns, and that the accused should be investigated and held accountable the same way that priests have in recent years.

One of the accusers claims that her Catholic high school teacher, a nun, sexually abused her for years, including undressing her and fondling her.  Another accuser, a man, claims that his abuse began in fourth grade.  "The depression is overwhelming" said the alleged victim.  There are fewer cases of nun abuse, but at least two nuns have been criminally charged including one, Sister Norma Giannini who is in jail for having sex with students over 40 years ago in Milwaukee.

Although sexual abuse by Catholic nuns has not been found to have occurred as often as priest abuse, the victims may suffer equally severe problems as a result of the crime.   If you or a loved one has suffered from clergy abuse, it is crucial that you get assistance from a clergy abuse attorney.  The legal team from the Zalkin Law Firm is dedicated to assisting victims of clergy abuse get fair compensation for the damages suffered.
