St. Louis Priest Named in Clergy Abuse Lawsuit

| No TrackBacks

A St. Louis Roman Catholic Priest and is being sued for the sexual abuse of a young boy in the early 1980's, reports fox2now.com.  The accused priest is Reverend Michael Freymuth.  Rev. Freymuth, the St. Louis Archdiocese as well as Archbishop Robert Carlson are all named in the suit.   The plaintiff, whose name is unknown, claims that the archdiocese was informed about the abuse in 2005 and had been told the plaintiff that the priest would be removed from active ministry and that this was not done.

After the Diocese heard of the potential lawsuit in January, 2009, Rev. Freymuth was finally removed from active ministry.  The archdiocese says that when the charges were made in 2005, a panel had determined that Rev Freymuth's actions had not constituted sexual abuse.  It is unknown where Rev. Freymuth is currently residing.
