A Las Vegas self-proclaimed "prophet" has been charged with 29 felonies in a child sex abuse scandal. The minister, Benito Catello, ran the church out of his home, reports the Las Vegas Sun. The minister apparently used threats of damnation and hellfire if any parishioner denied him the sexual favors he demanded. They would also be publicly humiliated in front of the congregation if they did not comply.
One of the young people who allege the clergy abuse lived at the minister's home during the summer of 2008, and the other claims the abuse also occurred at Castello's home in 2007. Las Vegas Police believe there are likely more victims and would like to be contacted.
