It is reported by chicagobreakingnews.com that convicted pedophile ex-priest, Daniel McCormack may continue to be incarcerated under the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act in September when he is eligible for parole. This state law allows prosecutors to fight for indefinite incarceration in a secure treatment facility if a psychological test indicates that the individual will likely commit another sex crime if released. He is going to be receiving this psychological test.
McCormack pleaded guilty to fondling five young boys, between 8 and 12 years of age inside the rectory of St. Agatha's. The crimes dated back to 2001. Some of the victims were part of the basketball team that he coached at the Our Lady of the West Side School, or friends of boys that attended the Catholic school where McCormack was an algebra teacher.
McCormack's accusations of clergy abuse actually went as far back as 1988. When the Diocese later looked into his case, it was discovered that these allegations had never been properly investigated and that the ex-priest had been allowed to continue to have contact with children for years afterwards.
