Newsminer.com recently reported that an Oregon Federal Court bankruptcy judge has named November 30, 2009 as the deadline for new clergy abuse suits against the Society of Jesus Oregon Province.
The Society of Jesus Oregon Province filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February. The province, which covers Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, stated that their mounting legal bills stemming from clergy abuse cases has resulted in the need to declare bankruptcy.
The deadline encourages those who have been abused by Jesuit clergy to come forward to make their case known.
