Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Filed Against Deceased Asheville Priest

| No TrackBacks

Citizen-times.com reported that a Philadelphia man has filed a lawsuit stating that he was sexually abused as a child by two members of the Catholic priesthood at the Basilica of St. Lawrence in Asheville, North Carolina.

Steven Souder, who is now 47, is seeking compensation for the emotional and physical abuse that he claims he has suffered at the hands of the late Father Justin Paul Pechulis and Father John McCole (retired) during the 1970s when Souder was a teen.

Also named in the suit are the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Diocese of Charlotte.  The complaint claims that church officials engaged in conspiratorial schemes to protect pedophiliac priests.

Jay Abramowitch, the attorney representing Souder, said, "[Church officials] not only knew about it, they condoned it and covered it up.  [Souder] was tremendously harmed by this."

If you or someone you know has suffered clergy abuse, please don't hesitate to speak with an experienced lawyer.  A priest abuse attorney at the Zalkin Law Firm will be able to discuss your situation for you and inform you of your legal rights.  You deserve justice.
