The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the California Supreme Court is going to make a ruling regarding whether six brothers can sue the Catholic Church. The case has been brought to the appeals court after an Alameda Judge dismissed the original lawsuit in 2007.
The Quarry brothers state that they discovered recently that their pyschological problems stemmed from childhood clergy sex abuse that occured in the 1970s. All six brothers reported that they were abused by the Reverend Donald Broderson. Broderson was forced into retirement by the church in the 90s.
Irwin Zalkin of the Zalkin Law Firm is the brothers' attorney. According to Mr. Zalkin, published reports have quoted Broderson as having admitted that he abused children in the 1970s and he even specifically admitted to sexually abusing the Quarry brothers.
