KansasCity.com recently reported that a St. Louis priest has been removed of his pastoral "faculties" after the St. Louis Archdiocese found that he was under investigation for sexual abuse crimes. Police have recently been urged to reopen the criminal investigation against the Reverend Robert Osborne.
Osborne formerly ran a Marianist high school in Kirkwood, Missouri, but he left that post in 2006 after he was accused of abusing a student. The clergy abuse case was settled out of court and no criminal charges were ever filed against Osborne. Despite the fact that Osborne had a prior encounter with sexual abuse allegations, the archdiocese previously stated that they had no evidence of wrongdoing and so allowed him to continue to serve as a parish priest. However, he has now been relieved of his duties.
