Jewish Demonstraters Protest Child Molestation in Manhattan

| No TrackBacks

The Jewish Daily Forward reported recently on a protest conducted by a dozen Jewish individuals at the Midtown Hilton in Manhattan, New York.

May 15th marked the annual dinner held by Agudath Israel of America.  As attendees were leaving, they were confronted by the small band of Jewish protesters, most dressed in traditional conservative clothing.  The demonstraters were accusing the group of overlooking/downplaying sexual abuse in Orthodox Jewish communities.  The protesters wanted the community leaders to stand up and fight against pedophilia within their religious group.

The cause of the protest is the oppositional stance that Agudath Israel of America has taken on a bill that is currently in the New York state assembly that would allow a window for survivors of rabbi abuse or other sexual abuse in the Jewish and other communities to commence lawsuits against their abusers no matter when the abuse occurred.

If you or a loved one has been sexually abused by a rabbi or other member of the Jewish community, please contact a rabbi abuse attorney at the Zalkin Law Firm.  You do have legal rights and you can receive the help that you need.
