The Hartford Courant reported that a 47-year-old man has filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford. The man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, filed under the pseudonym Donald Roe.
According to the lawsuit, Roe suffered sexual abuse at the hands of the deceased Monsignor Robert Walter Doyle during the 1970s. Under Connecticut state law, survivors of child sexual abuse have until their 48th birthday to sue their alleged abuser(s).
Roe's complaint states he was sexually molested by Doyle between 1971 and 1975. Additionally, the suit claims that Doyle told Roe that the abuse was, "OK with the Lord" and that no one would believe Roe if he attempted to report the incidents.
