Defrocked Priest and Registered Sex Offender Arrested in Illinois

| No TrackBacks

The Chicago Page One Examiner reported that a defrocked Catholic priest has been arrested again for violating his parole.

Mark Campobello of Crystal Lake, IL, is a convicted sexual predator who must register his location with local law enforcement agencies each year for the rest of his life.  This is due to pleading guilty to molesting two young girls while living at Geneva's St. Peter Parish.  The police reports indicated that some of the sexual abuse incidents occurred in the church rectory and some occurred at the parish school.

Campobello was officially removed from the Catholic clergy by the Vatican in 2005 and the civil suit against Campobello, the Rockford Diocese and Bishop Thomas Doran resulted in a settlement of $2.2 million.

Clergy abuse is a serious problem that can result in massive negative impacts across the lives of survivors and even the community in which the abuse took place.  If you or a loved one has suffered Catholic priest abuse, please contact a clergy abuse attorney at the Zalkin Law Firm.
