Clergy Abuse Survivors Urge Boston Archdiocese to Name Priests

| No TrackBacks

Abigail Beshkin reported on wbur.org that sexually abused individuals are pressing the Archdiocese of Boston and Cardinal Seán O'Malley to provide the names of priests and members of the clergy who have been accused of sexual abuse.

A main advocate of this push to release a comprehensive list of those accused is Anne Barrett Doyle of bishopaccountability.com. It is her feeling and the opinion of many survivors of clergy abuse that victims will be able to come to terms with their past if they can be aware of the credibly accused priests in the Boston Archdiocese.

Barrett Doyle says that "the five or six years that Cardinal O'Malley has been suppressing  the names of credibly accused priests, are five or six years that mother has gone to bed crying because she doesn't understand what happened to her son.  It's five or six years that a victim has gone to bed without validation."

The Boston Archdiocese is currently considering releasing a list of those priests accused of sexual abuse.  They do make a list available of the priests and members of the clergy who have actually been removed due to clergy abuse accusations.
