California Priest Also Facing Child Pornography Charges

| No TrackBacks

A recent article in the Californian gives information about new charges brought against a Salinas Catholic priest who is still in custody for allegedly providing alcohol to a minor and for child molestation.  Police searched a personal laptop belonging to the 41-year-old Father Antonio Cortes and found child pornography.

Cortes was earlier accused of giving alcohol to and also sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy who was 14 when the abuse began.  The child pornography charges are based off of what the forensic searchers are calling "numerous" videos that were found on Cortes' hard drive.

Cortes was brought in after the 16-year-old boy walked in to a police station and told police that Cortes had been sexually abusive and that Cortes had illegally provided the boy with alcohol.  Cortes was a priest at St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic church in California.
