Boston Still Under Pressure to Release Names

| No TrackBacks

The Herald News, a Massachusetts newspaper, reported that victims and their advocates are still calling for the Boston Archdiocese to release a comprehensive list of the Catholic priests who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse in the past.

Several survivor's advocacy groups have urged the Cardinal to take steps to release the names of Catholic priests who have been involved in child sexual abuse accusations in the church.  Despite multiple requests and varying arguments, the Boston Archdiocese has still failed to put forth a list of the accused priests.  However, a church sponsor did say that a list of names will probably be released "in the coming months."

According to the founder of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, David Clohessy, "Every day that goes by without a list, kids are at risk."  In fact, many priests who were accused of abusing children only avoided prosecution due to the fact that the statute of limitations had already expired.
