Philadelphia Archdiocese Takes Action Against Priest

| No TrackBacks

Philly.com posted an article on Monday about another priest accused of sexual abuse:  Gerard J. Hoffman has been removed from the clergy by Cardinal Justin Rigali.  According to this article, there were no law enforcement agents involved in the investigation, but Catholic church officials were able to conduct an investigation into the abuse allegations.

The church investigation uncovered that Hoffman sexually abused a child under the age of 18 over 30 years ago. Hoffman was already prohibited from presenting himself as a member of the Catholic clergy or administering Sacraments since July of last year when he was first accused of sex abuse.

As a result of the findings of the church's investigation, Hoffman is going to live a supervised "life of prayer and penance" at a retirement home for priests in Delaware County.

Sexual abuse by Catholic priests is a criminal and unlawful act and should be treated accordingly.  If you are a survivor of clergy abuse, you can receive the legal help that you need at the Zalkin Law Firm.  Their experienced Catholic priest abuse lawyers will be able to advise you on your clergy sexual abuse case.
